2024 Governor’s Award of Excellence

On September 12, 2024, iMPROve Health, with the support of the Michigan Health and Hospital Association Keystone Center, will celebrate the Governor's Award of Excellence Program winners at a ceremony held at Eagle Eye Golf & Banquet Center in Bath Township, Michigan.

This invitation-only event will include a welcome from iMPROve Health’s President & CEO, Leland Babitch, MD, MBA, a closer look at some award-winning healthcare improvement initiatives, and a Keynote presentation from Dr. Renée Branch Canady.

Renee CanadyDr. Canady serves as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Michigan Public Health Institute, a public health institute comprised of process and subject matter experts with a shared mission of working together to promote health and advance well-being for all. Canady is a relationship-driven leader and published author.

Canady earned her PhD in Medical Sociology from Michigan State University, a master’s degree in public administration from Western Michigan University, and a bachelor’s degree in public health nutrition from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

About the Governor's Award of Excellence

iMPROve Health, a nonprofit organization committed to improving healthcare quality, created the Governor's Award of Excellence Program, in partnership with Governor John Engler, in 2003. The award and Medals of Achievement recognize providers focused on improving some of Michigan’s most pressing health issues. The award criteria are aligned with the healthcare objectives of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

About MHA Keystone Center

All Michigan hospitals and thousands of their team members are voluntarily participating in MHA programs to improve healthcare safety and quality. A growing number of hospitals in other states are also participating in the MHA-led patient safety and quality initiatives.

As a result of these initiatives, which are driven by evidence-based best practices and strongly supported by data, engaged hospitals are seeing great improvements in safety and quality outcomes. The MHA Keystone Center’s mission, vision, and values are an essential part of the work being done and demonstrate their engagement in improving Michigan hospitals.
