On June 26, iMPROve Health celebrated 40 years of incorporation by focusing on their team — their most valued asset. The appreciation is happily reciprocated.
“Being a part of the iMPROve Health family for more than 12 years has been a rewarding journey! iMPROve Health has a culture that cultivates work-life balance, professional growth, teamwork and empowerment which allow us to live out our mission: Helping Healthcare Get Better,” said Tesia Looper, MSA, managing director, quality initiatives.
Since incorporating as Michigan Peer Review Organization, iMPROve Health has continued to provide impartial utilization reviews, peer reviews and dispute resolution. Becoming a certified independent dispute resolution entity in 2022 punctuated the organization’s commitment to impartiality as reviewers. iMPROve Health has also maintained URAC accreditation as an Independent Review Organization for 22 consecutive years.
“iMPROve Health is the best of the best. The company attracts the best managers, the best staff, which ultimately makes it a great place to work,” said Alyson Burtle, RN, BSN, CPHQ, review coordinator. Alyson has been with the organization for 16 years.
As Michigan’s designated Quality Improvement Organization, iMPROve Health has consistently won and executed the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ quality improvement contract either independently or, for the last two of the 12 contracts, collaboratively.
“My oh my how the years — nearly 14 — have flown by working for MPRO/iMPROve Health! They are full of great memories, teamwork, achievements and personal growth. Cheers to the next 40 years,” said Susan Pasqualone, managing director, proposals & communications.
As iMPROve Health grew in excellence and capabilities, their portfolio expanded well past Michigan. The organization now boasts contracts in 34 states. Since March of 2020, the iMPROve Health staff went virtual and has not looked back. They are ‘connecting virtually, thriving nationally’ with staff in 22 states working to improve healthcare across the continuum.
“I don’t know how I convinced the board that I knew what I was talking about, but I’m glad that all my coworkers helped me figure things out and make iMPROve Health a great place to work,” said Leland Babitch, MD, MBA, president & CEO. Leland has been with the organization for eight years.
A great place to work, with the awards to back it up. iMPROve Health is a five-time awardee of Modern Healthcares’ Best Places to Work; ranked #13 among the NonProfit Time’s Best Nonprofits to Work For; and for five consecutive years was named one of Crain’s Detroit Businesses’ Cool Places to Work.
To commemorate iMPROve Health’s 40th anniversary, the team created an illustration that conveys what the organization means to them. The ‘4’ describes what the team has given to iMPROve Health, and the ‘0’ is what iMPROve Health has gifted them in return.
“Working for iMPROve Health has been my home away from home. I truly believe in the work we do, and I am continually inspired by our iMPROve Health family’s dedication to helping healthcare get better,” said Andrea Boucher, MHSA, CPHQ, program manager. Andrea has been with the organization for 11 years.
