Margaret Lightner serves as president of two continuing care retirement communities owned by Beaumont Health. She has 20 years of experience in senior care and housing.
The continuing care communities have 379 skilled nursing beds, 169 assisted living units, 276 apartments and 86 privately owned condominiums. Revenues average $56 million. As vice president of senior services, Ms. Lightner led an integration team shortly after the creation of Beaumont Health, consolidating governance, management and operations, and creating a Beaumont branding strategy and operating performance metrics for the three separate senior services entities from Oakwood, Botsford and the Beaumont joint venture with Premier.
Ms. Lightner also led the Care Coordination Team, initiated to bring acute and post-acute leaders together to build systems around care transitions for Beaumont patients and improve utilization of Beaumont skilled nursing facilities. Beaumont now has a skilled nursing network of over 48 facilities with quality metrics that form a key building block for Beaumont to launch strategies to compete with new models of care and payment reform.
She serves as the expert in senior care and aging for Beaumont, assisting with consulting projects and strategic planning. She holds a master’s degree in healthcare administration, with a bachelor’s degree in dietetics. She is on the Board of Directors of the Health Care Association of Michigan. In 2012, she was awarded the Facility Leadership Award by the American College of Health Care Administrators.
